Two years of DSWFC online

Created with Sketch.

In December 2023 Dexter Sports Walking Football Club launched a new dedicated website to report on the stories, successes, and events of the club. This month we celebrate two years of digital success for DSWFC online. Read on to find out who’s visiting our site.

Before we launched our dedicated website, we were a small part of our parent clubs site. All those months back we didn’t have any social media presence at all. There was a Facebook group with about a dozen followers, but nobody knew who owned it, so that turned in to a dead-end!

Bringing us up to the present, you can now simply type dswfc.co.uk into your browser whenever you want to visit us. If Google is more your bag, then a search for “dswfc” will return many matches for us, including our Facebook page where you’ll find links and stories to all our latest updates.

Who’s visiting our website?

“So, who are these people visiting dswfc.co.uk then” is a question you may not be asking, but we’re going to tell you anyway!

We’ve had 3,700 different people visit the site since May 2024 – we didn’t have site analytics switched on until then! Those users have seen over ten thousand pages.

They come from all over the world – 76 different countries in fact, from Algeria to Vietnam. Eight out of ten visitors are in the UK, but that does leave 20% who aren’t. Of those half are from the United States with Spain, Australia, and Brazil also being popular.

Over 70% of visits are on mobile, while less than 5% from tablets, which is pretty typical for websites in 2025.

Our most visited page is the Dorset Walking Football League tables, which accounts for 12% of all page views. Our articles about the rules and laws of walking football are always popular, as are our frequently asked questions. Seems our website visitors are keen to find out more.

A third of visitors (33%) get to our website after searching on Google, another 32% through Facebook, while an impressive 31% arrive “directly”, which means they’ve probably added us to their favourites – find out how to do the same.

What about social media?

As well as this website, we also have a number of social media accounts we update with stories and news. By far the most used is Facebook. Since creating our Facebook Page we’ve gained over 340 followers and become the envy of many of our peers.

Thanks for reading our two years online review. If you like what you’ve read, please give us a follow on your social media outlet of choice. You can also click the red notification bell in the bottom left of this screen and receive notifications when we update the website.

If you’re not bothered, follow us anyway and just mute the notifications – it all helps to spread the walking football word (and is handy for DSWFC).
