Round Two of the Dorset Walking Football League would be the last of 2025 before resuming in January. The weather was good, our captain was back, as was our goalkeeper, and we started the day in fourth place. We were hopeful to push on and finish 2025 on a high.
Unfortunately, Dorchester weren’t able to put out a team, so all their opponents were handed 1-0 wins… points are points, but we all prefer to earn them legitimately. Hopefully The Magpies can regroup and continue in the new year – good luck guys.

DSWFC Tournament report
Tournament report by John Gray
Our day kicked-off with a fixture against new boys Wimborne Town. They lined up with two familiar faces in their ranks in the form of Tom Deady and Peter Cherryman. Tom and Pete had been Dexter’s players in previous years, right up to last season in fact.
We had a few goal attempts which never really tested their ‘keeper, apart from Brian hitting the bar. Wimborne made the most of their limited chances and scored with their only real shot of merit to win 1-0. In truth we were too passive in this game.
Next up for us were Bournemouth Whites. After conceding an early goal, we played well, especially in the second half, and deservedly levelled through a Pete Kane penalty, which was given for non-walking offences. It was good to have our captain back on duty.
We maybe should have claimed all three points after a wonderful strike from Pete (again), that in my opinion, was over the line after hitting the underside of the bar. Unfortunately, the referee didn’t share that view, and the match finished all-square at 1-1.
The last match of our day was against table-toppers Bournemouth Reds. We took a deserved lead, after another strike from Peter Kane. Dave Bacall made some vital saves in goal, but eventually The Reds equalised, before a wonder strike gave them a 2-1 lead.
Earlier in the season we’d given away too many non-walking offences, but on this occasion it was us who would benefit after Bournemouth gave away a penalty for four offences. Mr Kane scored from the spot once more for his third of the day, and a creditable 2-2 with last seasons champions.
After a slow start, it was pleasing to finish the day with a deserved point against the league leaders. Overall pleased with performances, after a defeat against Wimborne. Many thanks to all the support from the sidelines from the Dexters family.”
John Gray, DSWFC 60s Manager
As Dorchester were unable to attend League Round Two, all there opponents were given a 1-0 victory. That included us, Weymouth, Bournemouth Whites, and Sherborne. So, five more points added to our total and another won one, drawn two, lost one record – exactly the same as our 60s Round One in October.

Updated after League Round Two 2025/26 (16 November 2025)
League Overview
Bournemouth Reds and Eastleigh continued their unbeaten starts to the season, while Weymouth are keeping pace with them at the top, despite a heavy 4-1 defeat to The Reds at the start of Round Two. Wimborne are impressing after eight matches of their debut season and sit fourth just ahead of Dexter’s.
Sherborne achieved a “genuine” first win of the season and were also beneficiaries of Dorchester’s absence. Talking of Dorchester, they remain winless so far, as do Swanage, but they’ve only lost two matches and drawn six.
