Dexter Sports Walking Football Club have once again renewed their affiliation to The Walking Football Association (WFA) – the sole governing body for walking football in England.

The WFA describe their purpose as being “…to promote and facilitate the playing of Walking Football in England as a unique amateur sport for the purpose of recreation, physical excercise and competition.”

Affiliation to The WFA runs from 1 April until 31 March annually. There are a number of benefits for the club and its players. The headline benefits are:

  • Personal accident cover for all players who belong to the club – this includes during training and whenever playing in WFA approved tournaments, leagues or cups. To make sure you are covered by the WFA Personal Accident Insurance, you need to register as a player on the WFA website.
  • It allows DSWFC to enter the National Cup and any other WFA run events.
  • The right to submit players for the National Teams – only players from affiliated clubs can represent England at walking football.
  • The right to vote on things such as… how the WFA is run and changes to the laws of the game.
  • And our club is listed on Club Finder on the WFA website.

“To raise the profile of Walking Football in England as a unique amateur sport. To promote participation in the sport, in doing so, inspiring activity, seeking to have an impact on physical and mental wellbeing and maintaining a high standard of competitive play. Ultimately leading to success on the national and international stage.”
