Dexter Sports Walking Football Club’s oldest player has reached a significant milestone – Mervyn Young is 75 years old on 29 October 2025, and is still going strong in multiple leagues.
As well as being a wonderful fella, Merv is also an exceptional footballer. He’s still banging in goals for us. Indeed, he scored three just last week in the opening round of the 65s Dorset Walking Football League.
As well as playing for Dexter’s 70s, Merv plays for AFC Bournemouth in the Southern League, and is a member Coasters 70s which is a club team made up of players from Dorset clubs.
Last season he was part of the Dorset 70s squad which won both the Summer and Winter leagues, and more recently a tournament in Oakhampton.
Everyone at Dexter’s wishes you a happy birthday Merv – you’re a credit to every club and squad you play for.
