DEXTER SPORTS WALKING FOOTBALL CLUB
Allowing the beautiful game to be enjoyed by everyone
Established in 2015, Dexter Sports Walking Football Club exists to offer members the opportunity to continue playing football in a safe and inclusive way.
We’re proud to be the walking football team of Dexter Sports, a club more commonly associated with youth football in Poole, Dorset since 1975.

The benefits to physical health of regular excercise are well documented
MENTAL HEALTH

CO-ORDINATION
Re-using forgotten skills can help improve co-ordination
Train – Play – Socialise
Regular Training
We hold weekly, structured training sessions. These are divided into mini matches and planned sessions on specific skills or tactics, which are shared beforehand.
Tournaments
As a club we represent Dexter Sports in the Dorset Walking Football League. Tournaments are played monthly. They’re not compulsory, but there for those who want to.
Social Events
Throughout the year we have a number of get-togethers where we can all let our hair down and learn a little bit more about each other – partners as well if they fancy it.
What is walking football?
Walking football is a unique small-sided team sport. It’s similar to regular football and that’s what makes it such a great sport. When playing, all the skills you’ve learnt before will come flooding back.
It’s the game you love and remember, but played in a different way.
NO RUNNING
The clue’s in the name – running isn’t allowed. It’s not within the spirit of the game and is dealt with as an offence in tournaments.
SAFETY FIRST
Many of the laws feed into the principal of safety first. Rules like no contact, no tackling from behind and no headers or going to ground.
DIFFERENT LAWS
Matches are played between smaller teams, the ball can’t go above head height, we take kick-ins not throw-ins and some offences receive time in the sin bin.
AFFILIATION
Dexter Sports Walking Football Club is affiliated to the Dorset FA, as well as the Walking Football Association, the governing body of walking football in England.
